THE NON-SEQUITUR LOGIC AND BROUHAHA OVER REVERSAL OF OWNERSHIP OF LAND OPERATED BY DAAR COMMUNICATIONS IN RIVERS STATE – Tony C. Okocha Ksc JP.
Long overdue.
It is wickedness to deny Ozuoba and surrounding Communities this very wide expanse of farmland.
The land in issue, wasn’t properly acquired by Rivers State Government neither was it purchased by Daar Communications PLC.
“Weeping may endure in the night but Joy cometh in the morning.”
~Holy Bible
I am not the spokesperson of Rivers State Government, but as a critical mind, I detest certain irrational campaign nuggets. See my offerings on this:
Some will intend to locate the action of the State Government, which followed a resolution of the Rivers State House of Assembly, as Witch-hunt.
They will ask: why now that there exists a feud between Dokpesi (Proprietor of Daar Communications and Gov Wike?
Therefore It’s not timeous.
When then will it be adjudged timeous to reverse the injustice of deprivation of Peoples heritage/right?
My answer is; “Anytime at all is proper.
By all known ramifications, It is correct to conclude that Daar Communications existed/operated on that very wide expanse of land illegally.
Let any show proof of Government acquisition of the land or a legal document transferring the ownership of the Property to Daar Communications by Ozuoba and/or any of the communities affected.
Moreso, it’s also known that even where Government acquires land properly, relying on the subsisting draconian Land Use Decree, for public utilities, the community where the land is situate, is right to demand for reversal if the land wasn’t used for the reason it was acquired or if the wide expanse is under used.
The other question to ask is: Assuming but not conceding that the expanse was acquired by the Rivers State Government, but for what purpose?
Is Daar Communications a parastatal, ministry or Agency of Rivers State?
Is the very wide expanse of land well built-up?
Put differently, is it well utilised?
How had the operations impacted the lives of the Communities where the land is situate, in terms of Social responsibilities and employment generation?
Kudos to the RIvers State House of Assembly and Rivers State Government.
Congratulations to the affected communities for their dogged resilience in agitation for the reversal of the barefaced injustice.
What is not good, is not good.
That land where Daar Communications PLC operates in, along NTA/Choba road, was grabbed by powerful individuals at a time, to the chagrin of the lesser mortals.
God of Justice spoke last.
Therefore, let the non-sequitur logic and brouhaha over the action of Rivers State Government, namely;, reversal of land ownership to the rightful owners, cease.
I advise it will not make a good campaign nugget intended to demarket the Government of Rivers State.
