“We Shall Open Channels of Empowerment and Development for Ikwerre People”.
Wednesday 18th January, 2023, witnessed a sea of human heads and heavy human/vehicular traffic along the busy Isiokpo/Omagwa/Owerri road in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, as the All Progressives Congress APC, Ikwerre LGA Chapter, received the Campaign Train of Pastor Tonye Patrick Cole MNI. and Dr. Innocent Barikor, Rivers APC 2023 Governorship, and Deputy Governorship Candidates respectively.
Tonye Cole MNI. and Dr. Innocent Barikor had initially visited the Palace of Nyenwe-Ali Igwuruta, to pay obeisance to the Royal Father and the Chiefs-in-Council. From there, the Guber-hopeful and his Deputy, with the Train, proceeded on Market Visitation in Igwuruta and Door-to-Door/ Street-to-Street campaigns in the ever busy town of Omagwa, near Portharcourt International Airport.
Tonye Cole, his delectable wife, Dr. Sylvia and entourage, later arrived at the grand venue of the day’s event, the expansive permanent arena and Secretariat of the Ikwerre Youth Movement (World-Wide) IYM, located at Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Dignitaries at the IYM Ground were: Chief Senator Andrew Uchendu, High Chief Emeka Beke, State Party Chairman, Chief Engr. Sampson Ngerebara, Chief Hon. Ambassador Oji Ngofa, Hon. Dr. Ndubuisi Nwankwo, Mrs. Beatrice Amobi, State Women Leader, Gbarato Baridakara, State Youth Leader, Officials of Tonye/Barikor 2023 Campaign Organization led by Chief Hon. Dr. Michael Ibinabo West, and others.
Ikwerri people flooded the venue in their uncountable numbers in open cheers, songs, dances, jirations and jubilations as Rivers State APC Chairman handed over flags to Hon. Barr. Ezemoye Ezekiel Amadi(House of Reps. Candidate for Ikwerri/Emohua Federal Constituency) and Rt. Hon. Byke Nwanjokwu (House of Assembly Candidate for Ikwerri State Constituency).
Director General of Tonye Cole/Innocent Barikor Campaign Organization, Chief Hon. Dr. Ibinabo Michael West, in his speech, called on Ikwerre people to be steadfast, mobilize sufficiently and go for the votes as the victory of Tonye Cole will usher a rebirth in terms of employment, education and empowerment. Also, Senator Andrew Uchendu frowned at the level of misgovernance meted on Rivers State by Mr. Nyesom Wike and his factional PDP. He called on the people to vote out Wike and his evil agenda at the election. Other speakers were Barr. Ezemoye Ezekiel, Byke Chikere Nwanjoku, Hon. Chibike Ikenga , State Women Leader, and the State State Youth Leader.
Meantime, the Governorship Candidate, Pastor Tonye Cole, flanked by wife, Dr. Sylvia Cole, and his Deputy, Dr. Innocent Barikor, had applauded Ikwerri people for their resilience, doggedness and belief in the APC. Tonye Cole assured the people that, APC shall contest all the elective offices and win. He assured Ikwerri people that massive channels of empowerment and development shall be open to them, when APC forms government. He charged all to ensure they stand their grounds on election days, to vote and defend their votes for the APC.
