The Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Engr. Dr. Samuel Osorochi Nwanosike, DSSRS, KSC, JP, has banned the operation of motorcycles within Ikwerre LGA from the hours of 7pm – 6am each day.
According to a statement released on behalf of the Ikwerre Council Chairman by his Principal Secretary, Elder Bright Agbovu, it says that the Executive Chairman “has directed the immediate ban on the operations of motorcycles, popularly called Okada, in the 13 Wards of the local government area from 7pm – 6am each day”.
Dr. Nwanosike explained that the ban was necessitated by the widespread of cult activities within the neighbouring local government areas in which motorcycles have become a quick means of movement to perpetrate mayhem in the areas.
He directed motorcycle operators within Ikwerre LGA to immediately comply to the banning order and charged security agencies to execute the order with immediate effect without compromise.
Dr. Nwanosike assured residents and business operators in the LGA of a continuous peaceful environment to live and do business in.
